Plazmaman and Monster Rides have developed an air-water intercooler for current model HiLux D4D. The 12V water pump circulates a water/glycol mix throughout the intercooler barrel, cooling the air being forced through by the turbo, delivering much colder air back into the inlet manifold. The liquid in the barrel is cooled by the large radiator and thermo fan which cools the water glycol mix in a continuous flow. The system requires no external airflow like a front mount intercooler, which enables the unit to be mounted as close to the manifold as possible, reducing turbo lag and providing maximum performance. Aside from power increases, this kit also reduces exhaust gas temperatures, which is ideal for those who are towing loads over long distances.
