VMN Chip Customer Endorsements

Here is what Mark from the Gold Coast QLD had to say after driving VMN's demo vehicle:

Thanks for the drive Rod, that truck is a weapon now! Completely different feel to the manual so its a bit hard to compare but going from the switch on and off it certainly isn't a placebo effect that you can convince yourself of after forking out a grand for one of these chips. Rod's ute goes like a stabbed rat so I am very impressed. The transition from 3rd to 2nd when you give it the beans makes it feel like it has a rocket in its bum.

Put me on the list but I might have to wait a few months until I put some k's on the new Hilux that was signed off on today.

I couldn't wait to put it on. It was 35 here today and let me tell ya its not a good idea to do it when the motor is hot. Anyway I got it installed in about 20 minutes with little fuss. No swearing or cursing either .

I went up to my mums who lives in the Adelaide Hills and from the first hill i could feel the power pullling me up where as before I would always have to change down a gear and this is with the aircon running also. I put it the the lowest setting cause its pretty hot weather too atm supposed to be 42 tomorrow. I have a bullbar, dual battery and with my tool boxes and tools its another 500kg on the tray and it feels like more power than stock with nothing on it.

When at 80km or 100km it just goes even in 5th gear. With a exhaust and putting the chip up a level it would be more than enough power. My sister came down with thir new SR5 Hilux and I took it for a spin and mine feels to rev out much better and once the turbo spools up the power just kicks in. I nearly won $50 for a bet agianst my brother in law for having a drag to see who's quicker untill I told I had the chip then he didn't wanna.

Got my chip 1st class quality on the default setting (2) you really can tell its there, hooked up the camper trailer yesterday and no probs but thought what the hell I'll go up a setting to number 3 and even with the trailer on, its like a rocket is straped to the rig.

On the black smoke note on default it is so minimal on default but on number 3 it is noticable but only for a second if you put your foot flat to the floor then it sorts itself out not sure if ill keep it on number 3 or not for the trip I'm about to go on...

Definitely recommend this chip to anyone, can't wait to fit a snorkel next and try it on number 4 so I can line up against my mates v6 lux

Fitted the module today, easy as.. what a difference!- No limp mode Plenty of get up and go "at the foot" , just have to be more careful of the speed cameras now. I would highly recommend this module.

Greg from Brisbane had this to say:

Had the vmn chip fitted to my 09 single cab on sat and I can say that it is well worth getting one of these. Rod fitted it for me, great bloke. Heaps more torque in the mid range and seemed to rev smoother than standard, feels like it just wants to keep going past redline. Great bit of kit Rod really happy with it.

Scott from Perth had this to say:

You could easily fit this unit in 20 min or less. I took a bit longer because I spent time positioning and fixing the loom perfectly so it touched neither the intercooler or the top of the motor. I was probably being over fussy but I was thinking that I only want to do this once and don't want any problems caused but heat/vibration.

The loom was the perfect length to install the unit where I planned and even the battery leads seemed to be exactly the right length with the correct size of fitting on the end. By this time I had worked out that all this was not just good luck (apart from the velcro). The kit is properly engineered. The quality is also top shelf..again giving me confidence. But what you really want to know is how does it perform? In a word...Brilliantly!

I started the engine and listened intently. I have a fair degree of mechanical sympathy and I would back myself to pick up any anomolly. The motor idled perfectly. If anything it is very slightly smoother than before.

When you drive it there is extra power available everywhere. Very noticable indeed and remember I am on the lowest power setting. I do not know (who does!) exactly what the chip is doing, but from the drivers seat the impression is that the turbo spools up much more quickly and stays spinning for longer. Clearly it is not that simple but that is the best way to descibe how it feels when you drive it. The car is decidedly smoother on accelleration and in all honesty sounds better with the chip, which was not what I expected at all. I can't speak about economy because I have only driven the car 100kms or so and it would be fair to say that I am driving like a bit of a peanut currently just to feel the extra urge that the car now has. So my inpression so far is...as I said...brilliant.

One thing did occur to me though. If you cut through all the B/S you are not talking about a day v's night difference in power. I bring this up because you might not want to pay more money for a chip which does less. In all honesty if you had just forked out $1500 for a chip which produced less power than this (and is probably not engineered as well) I think you might well be dissapointed. At its current price point this chip is an absolute bargain (IMHO).

Get one.....even if you have to sell a kidney to do it.

And Later Scott said this about towing:

I have been very dissapointed with the econony of the hilux when towing. My econony would go from an average of around 10.5 litres/100kms (around town) to 19 litrers/100kms (on the open rd!!!) Almost double!!! I felt that the vehicle was having to work very hard to keep up a steady 100kmh even though the trailer only weighs 1400KG. Not good....

After installing the chip....totally different story. The vehicle now stays at cruising speed much more easily and fuel econony has increased massively. So much so i can hardly believe it and to be honest i am even a bit concerned about sharing the results because they sound like B/S. To put this into perspective, fuel econony for me is not really about the cost of the fuel itself, more the extra range that lower fuel economy gives you. Where previously I was getting arount 300kms per tank (towing) I now get around 470Kms!!! unbelievable. So (if you can follow my thinking!) for me the chip has been like having an extra 30 litres of diesel in the tank...except I am not paying for it!
