VMN Hilux/Vigo/Prado LandCruiser Diesel Performance Chip
VMN has released a Diesel Performance Chip for the Toyota D4D 3.0 litre common rail fuel injected engine manufactured since 2006. It can be fitted in 20 minutes and delivers performance increases of around 30% over standard performance in both power and torque.
The principle is simple and involves connecting our chip tuning kit between the original computer and the injection system of your car. The chip tuning kit is fitted with automotive quality connectors and not the cheap computer connectors found on inferior kits. This means that they can be quickly and efficiently connected without having to cut or solder wires together. They can simply be unplugged or removed very easily leaving no physical trace in the vehicle's engine or computer memory, handy if you take your car in for servicing and don't want the dealer to know!
Furthermore, as the manufacturers' specified operating tolerances are never exceeded, you can be assured that our Performance Chip Tuning Kit will perform brilliantly and within the engines capabilities.
This chip can be self installed in 20 minutes, has four adjustable power settings and includes a two year warranty.
Anyway, before you read much further check out what our customers have to say about this product here: Customer Endorsements
It is very simple to fit and comprises of a wiring harness that goes to each injector. It is simply a matter of disconnecting the factory wires from each injector, connecting them to the wiring harnes and then connecting the harness to the injector.

The other end of the wiring harness has a red and a black wire that are used to connect to the battery using the provided spade lugs. The shorter black wire is optionally used to disable the chip if it is connected to earth via a switch.

Before launching the Chip in Australia, VMN undertook independent dyno testing on a 2007 Auto Hilux with standard exhaust and air filter. This graph show the difference between the factory performance and the minimum power setting:
In this instance, the red lines shows factory performance wthout the chip enabled and the blue lines show perfomance with the chip enabled at the minimum boost setting. The the lower line shows torque and the upper line power.
Even on the minimum settings, the performance graph shows significant improvement. The following graph shows the range of increase in performance between the minimum boost setting and the maximum.
Note that the second graph includes the minimum power setting again and introduce a new line for the maximum power setting. (eg. te red line in the first graph is exactly the same as blue line in the second).
So let's have a look at what all this means in a table form:

The Vehicle Modifications Network New Hilux Body Lift kit is a complete body lift kit for the Toyota Hilux 150 and Vigo that will allow you to raise the body up by 50mm.
Why fit a body lift?
Body lifts are usually done to allow the fitment of larger tyres. However, there are other equally good reasons to do a body lift as it gets the sills up out of the way, provide more room underneath for the fitment of a second transfer case, provide space to clock the transfer case drive, other train modifications, and allow more space under the vehicle for air tanks and long range fuel tanks.
Will the Vehicle Modificaions Network Toyota Hilux Body lift Kit fit the Hilux Vigo??
Yes. The Toyota Hilux is also called the Vigo in some markets so if you are looking for a Toyota Virgo Body Lift kit, the VMN Toyota Hilux Body lift kit will fit perfectly.
Is a Body Lift Safe?
Body lifts are an allowed modification under the Australian Design Rules. Obviously body lifts would not be allowed if they were in any way unsafe. Careful attention to detail however is required to ensure the body blocks are correctly sized to match the original body mounts otherwise they can result in vehicle damage. Becaues the bulk of the weight of a vehicle is in the chassis, suspension and engine. These components are unaffected by a body lift so therefore, the body lift keeps the centre of gravity lower than an equivalent suspension lift would.
Is A Body Lift Legal?
Vehicle Modifications regulations vary from state to state. In Queensland, body lifts must first be approved for fitment by Queensland Transport before they are fitted. After they are fitted your vehicle will need to be inspected at a QT inspection station. At this inspection, all modifications to your vehicle will be inspected (including tyre sizes) and everything must comply with the vehicle regulations otherwise you will receive a defect notice and a fine.
Residents of other states should check with the regulatory authority in thir state to ascertain what is required for legal fitment of a body lift kit.
Does a Body Lift affect the SRS (Airbags) on my Hilux or Vigo
No. The airbags are deployed by a SRS Computer located under the console. There are some safing sensors on the body near the radiator. The airbags are deployed when a threshold decelleration is sensed by the SRS computer and the safing sensors are also activated. Because every component dealing with SRS airbag deployment is mounted on the body and the method of airbag deployment, the Hilux / VigoSRS system is not affected by a body lift
What's in the VMN Body Lift Kit?
Basically everything you need to do a body lift to a Hilux 150 series or Vigo vehicle. Each VMN kit includes all of the components shown in the photo but the number of some components may change from one model to the next. For example, the single cab Hilux/Vigo has an extra pair of mounts for the tub and obviously a tray back ute does not need any components to lift the tray. The VMN Hilux/Vigo Body Lift Kit includes all mounting hardware, all required body lift blocks and radiator drop brackets. A steering shaft extension utilising standard Toyota factory parts is also included. We do not include components to adjust bull bars, sliders and side steps as these are aftermarket accessories that vary from vehicle to vehicle.
Where do I get a VMN Hilux/Vigo Body Lift Kit?

Please be patient while we are moving in, there is so much to do. I am really pleased that Mmaax has come along for the ride and he has already done a lot in relation to putting information up hereon the forum, and in time, much of it will migrate to the web site where it will be better categorised. Between the two of us we know the Hilux 150 pretty well backwards and because of this we have also launched http://www.hilux150mods.net under the http://www.vehiclemods.net.au banner. Once we get his site bedded down, we’d also be happy to consider doing something similar for your favorite vehicle if somebody is prepared to become the expert in that field. Just send me a PM outlining your ideas.
I am also very happy that SteelArt has also thrown his hat in the ring here as there is no one else out there that knows more about the Queensland legislative framework than he does. He's promised to upload some content as soon as work commitment permits. The fact that he actually knows a lot more about IT than I do is actually a great bonus too! |

The primary goal of Vehicle Modifications Network (VMN) develop a central resource centre about Australian vehicle modification from a driver and enthusiast's viewpoint. we hope that this site will become a veritable gold mine of information about the legislative side of vehicle modifications. I know we don't really like complying with them, but if you want to drive your car on the road, rules is rules and most of us want to keep our cars road legal if we drive them on the street. We also hope to achive a few other things.
Another goal of VMN is to develop a network of people that we get to know and trust over time. It is hoped to launch an online store on the site here that sells kits and accessories that addresses key vehicle modification needs. If they are sold to Queensland residents, these kits will come with assistance to prepare the necessary approval documentation packs to simplify dealing with Queensland Transport. However, right now, that is very much a secondary goal as we have to build trust in you, our potential client base as the first step. I know there are lot of peple out there manufacturing parts and accessories in a small way and it would be fantastic if this site could develop into a serious sales outlet for our members and deliver to them a professional on line presence. So if you fall into that category, please send me a PM and let’s see what can be worked out.
So anyway, that is enough from me, I really hope you enjoy the ride here at VMN!

Hi guys, I thought I'd introduce myself here seeing I am the idiot who decided to kick this off the ground and put his money where his mouth is to set up this web site. My name is Rod and I am fairly new to the 4WD and vehicle modification scene (for about 4 years now) and a bit over 18 months ago, I purchased a new Toyota Hilux Dual Cab after my earlier rig died. At the time nobody knew much about how to modify the "New" Hilux which is actually more correctly known as the Hilux 150 Series or the 6th generation Hilux. Today, my Rig is quite a bit different now to when she came off the dealer's floor, but I have yet to delve into the hard core mods that my good mate Mmaaxx has done to his.
Anway, I have sussed out a lot of the legislative scene behind the vehicle modifications and I have become weary of correcting people and continually quoting to the relevant bible documents on various forums. The final impetus for this site came out of this thread on the 4WDAction forum: http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=76791
Anyway, a couple of knowledgeable guys chimed in and this thread became a very informative topic about rules and allowed modifications. After considering a couple of ideas, I came up with the idea of a website dedicated to the vehicle modification community out there. The intent is to provide an informative and authoritive site for the community for both 4WD enthusiasts and other similarly obsessed people no matter what they choose to drive, be it a 4WD, a hot rod, street car or something on the race track. |
